The Utah Ski Vacation season runs approximately from mid-November to mid-April, depending on the resort and the location. Many resorts open late and shut down early, not for lack of snow but for lack of business. In fact, some of the best backcountry skiing can be had in late April and May, when avalanche risks subside and the firmer, sun-baked snow is easier to walk and climb on than midwinter powder.
