We are your trusted source for all of your lodging needs. With a wide selection of properties ranging from condos, beach houses, cabins, and vacation homes, you are sure to find vacation rentals of all types and sizes to suit your needs. Commonly known as " vacation rentals " by many Americans, this name generally refers to a much broader scope of properties. The term " vacation rental " can actually refer a cabin, condo, beach house, vacation home, vacation apartment, bed and breakfast, chalet, cottage, town house, or a villa, just to name a few. Whatever name you prefer to call them, their advantages are endless. Their price is usually around that of a hotel, but you will receive more of the comforts of your own home. Many allow you the opportunity to cook a meal in a full sized kitchen, read a book on the couch, or take a swim in a private pool. Vacation rentals are especially a great alternative when traveling with a large group, due to the many variations in size, some even offer discounted rates when traveling in a large group. Beach houses are one of several popular types of vacation rentals. Because many beach houses are located just steps from the beach, you and your party are able to enjoy an abundance of water activities and scenic sunsets! A beach house is an ideal rental for travelers looking for something more than the normal. Some of the most popular locations for these types of vacation rentals include Florida , Hawaii , and California . Another popular form of rental properties are vacation homes. Vacation homes are often extremely nice homes that have been redesigned with the traveler in mind. Many of these homes have private pools and numerous bedrooms for larger parties or simply privacy. Almost all come equipped with full kitchens, usually stocked with pots, pans and utensils. Vacation homes also generally come equipped with TVs, DVD players, and all the equipment you would want to make your travel experience one to remember. South America is a huge, spectacular continent, with great rivers, lush rain forests, snow covered mountains and tremendous glaciers, barren deserts and fertile agricultural areas. The countries are unique unto themselves, but can be grouped somewhat geographically.
The northern countries face the Caribbean Sea, have mixed populations, a tropical lifestyle and rugged mountains. Here you will find favorite destinations like Angel Falls, the coastal resort of Los Roques and Margarita Island.
The Andean heartland contains the area that once was the core of the Inca Empire. Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador are still the most Indian of the South American countries. Here you will find the Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu, the highest navigable lake in the world in Lake Titicaca, snow-covered peaks and live volcanos, like famous Cotopaxi in Ecuador, plus the dense rain forests of western Amazonia.
Brazil is like no other: language, culture, sheer size, superlatives, energy and style, but it does share the Pantanal with its neighbor, landlocked Paraguay where the Chaco is the last grand frontier on the continent. They share also the Parana river, where Friendship Bridge links the two nations near Iguazu Falls.
The countries of the "Southern Cone" are the most European in flavor. Argentina and Chile host some of the wildest extremes of climate and geography - pampas and desert, the Andes, Patagonian glaciers and the Straits of Magellan and Beagle Passage.
The islands, either territories or possessions, share very few characteristics with the mainland. They are unique and out of the way, yet they reward the traveler with sights and experiences far beyond the norm.
But, before you can get to any of these destinations, you have to have a travel plan!
Within these pages you'll particularly useful information for the first time visitor to South Anerica, but experienced travelers will also find this information a handy way to refresh their memories or find something new.
These pages will take you directly to hundreds more of resources for travel to and around South America. One day you can be on the cobbled streets of a medieval city, the next atop a snowcapped peak. Nowhere else greets you with such a swift succession of different languages and menu changes. With more than 30 national cultures on a modest landmass, Europe frequently dazzles even Europeans. Dubbed a living museum for the way its past and present coexist, this wealthy continent offers the charms of quaint Amsterdam and Prague alongside the buzz of modern metropolises such as Berlin and London. Postmodern buildings such as the Guggenheim in Bilbao have quickly taken a place beside Barcelona's still unfinished Sagrada Familia and older architectural icons like the ancient Parthenon. Europe's appeal lies not just in an influential, often bloody past and a largely peaceful present, but also in its mix of culture and nature. Botticelli and Picasso masterpieces aren't far from the countryside or popular beaches. You can follow the footsteps of characters you read about in textbooks or blaze your own trail in the Alps. Whether you dream of experiencing the romance of Paris, absorbing the chaos of Istanbul or downing a few beers in Belgium, this multifaceted continent can satisfy your tastes. Just as the EU has expanded east, so too has the traveller's itinerary and many formerly communist countries - even those outside of the EU - have been more open to tourism. The new colours that these destinations reveal, show how diverse the European cultural palette is, but for budget travellers there's a bonus. While Europe usually requires a longer, thicker shoestring than elsewhere, many of these recent hot locations are among the continent's cheapest. No guidebook is perfect... , December 19, 2005 Reviewer: Julia Webber "nerd" (South Bohemia, Czech Republic) - See all my reviews ... but I find the Lonely Planet guides to be better than most. Obviously this book covers a very large area, so it goes for breadth rather than depth. If you want to explore a country outside the major cities, get a local guide. This book contains a good amount of details about major Western countries- specifically Britain, Germany, France, Spain and Italy. If you are planning on travelling through the Balkans, Eastern Central Europe, the Baltics or Scandinavia, you should know that this guide only provides information about the major cities and tourist centers, and will not guide you away from the beaten path. Also, be aware that the book does not include Belarus or the Ukraine. Lonely Planet provides excellent maps, directions to attractions, and instructions for using the local transport (very useful), along with a language guide. Their advice regarding where to go and what to see, along with what to stay away from, is usually quite good. The main problem with this book is price inaccuracies. Naturally, prices change, so it is to be expected that the restaraunt, hotel and attraction prices cited in the guide may not be entirely accurate, but a person should be able to take it as truth when a guide says that ________ is the cheapest place to get food/accomodation/internet access... Lonely Planet misses a lot of budget traveler's gems and focuses mainly on expensive things in city centers. If you take the metro/bus/whatever a few stops away from the center in most of these towns, you can find hostels/restaraunts/internet cafes which are much cheaper than those listed in the book. It's worth the 10 extra minutes of travel time if you truly need to travel "on a shoestring." Was this review helpful to you? However, the problem wih Lonely Planet in general is that you need to buy he most updated version everytime because things change and the lonely planet people know this. And they keep updating it. Luckyly this edition is the newest one because it has the wedding of prince of denmark in it which is pretty recent. All in all this is an excellent bok! Was this review helpful to you? ( Report this ) 10 of 10 people found the following review helpful: Good Overview , September 6, 2005 Reviewer: Carolyn Howarter (germany) - See all my reviews This book is really great for young people seeing Europe on a tight budget, as the title suggests. It is also suitable for families as it gives hotel and camping options in addition to hostels. One of my favorite aspects of it are the quick tips, which are very useful, and the mini history lessons for each country. The book also includes how to say basic words (hello, goodbye, please, thank you) in each language as well as a little phrase book in the back. The book is incredibly helpful in planning trips because it also gives a suggested daily budget and whether or not a visa is needed to enter a country. However, since it highlights so many countries, it is not ideal if you are staying mostly in one country. None of the sections go very in depth on the small towns in each country. For most travellers, that is not a problem. If you are staying in a country for a semester or a year though, you might want to also buy a book specific to where you are. Because it covers so many countries/cities, it missed a few details that I thought should be included. But overall, I'd say this is more than enough as a survival guide in Europe!
